This fund supports graduating seniors from Highland High School who attend a technical, vocational program, or 2 or 4-year college or university of their choice. Applicants must have 8 credit hours of participation in the Highland High School Orchestra.

Award Amount

This fund will award a $2,000 scholarship annually.

Applicant Criteria

• Graduating seniors from a high school in Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper, or Newton counties in Indiana.
• Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater

This fund honors four Lake Station girls who never had the chance to further their educations. They died on October 31st 1971, when their Sunday School bus was hit by a freight train at an unguarded crossing in Lake Station. Their names were Elizabeth Miller, Donna Breckman, Becky Tucker and Merralee Meler. They ranged in age from 9 to 17.

Award Amount

This fund will award four (4) $1,000 awards given each year.

Applicant Criteria

• Graduating high school senior from Thomas A. Edison Jr./Sr. High School in Lake Station, Indiana.
• Current cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater
• Pursue a 2-year or 4-year degree at an accredited college or university
• College or university shall not be an online-only institution

This fund provides scholarships to Northwest Indiana high school graduating seniors, with demonstrated intentions of pursuing a degree in the STEM field. Priority is given to those pursuing a degree in Engineering or Mathematics.

Award Amount

Scholarship awards per recipients will vary between $1,000 and $5,000.

Applicant Criteria

• High school seniors who will receive diplomas from high schools located in Lake, Porter, Jasper, and Newton counties in Indiana.
• Enrolled or plan to enroll at a 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university
• Demonstrated financial need
• Minimum GPA of 3.2
• Applicants will be evaluated on scholastic achievement, work experience, involvement/leadership within their school and/or community.

Pay It Forward Scholarship

This scholarship is funded through donations from past scholarship recipients and other contributors. LEGACY WILL MATCH EACH GIFT $1-for-$1 up to $1,000! The collective contributions will allow Legacy Foundation to award a new scholarship to a high school senior in Lake County, Indiana.
