This fund supports organizations that enhance the quality of life for senior citizens in Hobart, IN.
On December 10, 1996, Maria Reiner’s estate was placed with Legacy Foundation as a permanent fund to benefit Hobart senior citizens. Because of this enduring gift, her wish of supporting seniors in the city where she lived will carry on forever. Twenty years later her fund has distributed $964,000 to over 20 different organizations that give Hobart seniors a thriving life.

This fund provides ongoing support to the Highland Community Foundation.

Highland Community Foundation is an Indiana 501(c)3 public charity that solicits contributions for programs and projects that improve quality of life for Highland area residents.

Possible projects for endowment include funding for HCF’s “Highland Has Art” grant program and our ongoing efforts to support replacing diseased trees and diversifying the tree population in Highland. The ultimate distribution of grants from endowment earnings will be decided by our then current governing board.

Contributions to our fund are tax-deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. Help us raise $17,000 in 30 days! On March 1^st, we are launching our crowdfunding campaign for the Gary Preservation Tour. Beginning in summer 2017, the tour brought more than 500 people to Downtown Gary to learn about the city’s history. It opened 9 architecturally significant sites to the public and told the stories behind them.

This summer, we thrilled to re-launch the project and add two historic residential districts, Horace Mann and Morningside.
