Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship

Each Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship provides for full tuition, required fees and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and required equipment for four years of undergraduate study on a full-time basis leading to a baccalaureate degree at any eligible Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university.

Construction Trades Equipment Scholarship

Supports Northwest Indiana residents who attend a registered construction apprenticeship program or other recognized training program that leads to a certificate or formal credential in the construction field.

Provides a $500 award paid to Blue Collar Supply to help cover the cost of required equipment.

(CLOSED) Legacy Foundation Universal Scholarship Application

Legacy actively administers more than 45 scholarship funds. Our application process is designed to make it easier and less time consuming for students to apply for the scholarships available through the universal online application. Eligible students may be awarded a scholarship from one or more different funds. All applications must be completed and submitted through the online scholarship system found on the Foundation website. Please review the  Scholarship Information Booklet 2024-25 for detailed information for all scholarships.

Application Deadlines:

  • December 31, 2024: Interested students must begin their application by this date.
  • January 24, 2025: Applications must be submitted by this date.

(CLOSED) Building the Future Vocational Scholarship Application

The Building the Future Vocational Scholarship supports scholarships for Lake County residents to attend a public or private institution to earn a certificate or vocational/trade school degree with the intent to gain local employment.

Deadline: June 1, 2025.

(CLOSED) Glenn D. Peters Law School Scholarship

Award 
Scholarships are available for tuition costs at an accredited law school located anywhere in the United States of America. While financial need can be a factor, greater weight is assigned to academic achievement and involvement in quality extracurricular activities

Applicant Criteria

Must be a permanent resident of the Northern District of Indiana for the United States District Court (roughly the northern third of Indiana). See list and map here.

(CLOSED) Peter V. Westhaysen Medical Education Scholarship

Award 
Scholarships are available for post-secondary undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students pursuing a degree to become a physician or nurse at an accredited university. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist the student with the costs of tuition, fees, and books. The Advisory Committee consider two basic criteria: academic achievement and financial need.

Applicant Criteria
• Must be a permanent resident of the Lake County Indiana.
• Must show outstanding scholastic ability.
• Demonstrate financial need.

Medical Students:
• Enrolled in full-time post graduate program for training as a medical doctor.

Nursing Students:
• Enrolled in full-time Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing program. Must be at least in the second year of a nursing program to apply.

Deadline: June 1, 2025.
