The Good Teachers Count scholarship for 2012 has been awarded to Cosetta Black. The new scholarship fund was recently established with Legacy Foundation by nine women of Legacy Foundation's Board of Directors. Black is the first recipient of the award.

The Good Teachers Count Fund was created to help local women complete their education through monetary awards. This group of leaders recognizes that there are talented adult students who are returning to school for a degree in education after gaining life experience. These students may need financial assistance as they simultaneously manage the responsibilities of family, work, and school.

Black received her bachelor's degree in 2011 in Organization Management from Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting and subsequently enrolled in the Transition to Teaching Program.
