Scholarship fund transfered to Legacy Foundation : Cedar Lake News
Lake County's leading philanthropic partner supports organizations that enhance residents' quality of life
(CEDAR LAKE, Indiana) Hanover Dollars for Scholars has disbanded after more than 20 years of fundraising and awarding post-secondary scholarships to Hanover Central High School students.
Through its tag days, flower and holiday greenery sales, the group raised close to $250,000 to provided scholarships to young men and women headed to college and trade schools.
After much investigation, discussion and deliberation, Hanover Dollars for Scholars has chosen to turn over its remaining funds to the Legacy Foundation for stewardship. Members have worked closely to ensure the foundation continues awarding Hanover Central scholarships in the tradition of Hanover Dollars for Scholars.
While funds remain to award scholarships for many years to come, supporters are encouraged to keep the community's legacy alive by continuing to support the scholarships through directed donations to the Legacy Foundation. Individuals can donate in memory of honor of another person, and endowments can be established. Businesses, groups and organizations can donate to have a scholarship established in their name.
All donations can b e sent to: Legacy Foundation, 1000 E. 80th Place, Suite 402 North, Merrillville, IN 46410. Mark the donation for the "Hanover Central High School Scholarship Fund."
